You may have the best BBQ grilling equipment in the world, but the taste of a BBQ largely depends on the chef handling it. In this article, we’ll inform our users of some tips and techniques which they can use to cook the perfect grilled meat.
Preheat!
This is a must do technique for every cook. You see, a good piece of BBQ means even temperatures throughout the meat. As the outer portion gets warmer way before the heat can reach the middle, it would be advisable to preheat so as to make it easier to cook without charring the outer surfaces.
Sometimes The Thinner the Better
As a thinner BBQ encompasses lesser volume, it would be easier for the heat to travel to the middle (the importance of which has been explained before). This is why it is some recommend to keep the steak no more than a centimeter in width. If you think that is insufficient, you can also increase the surface area which will result in a tastier meat thanks to more exposure to the heat.
Let the Fluid Soak in the Coal
One mistake that many novice chefs do is prematurely ignite the coal right after pouring the fluid, which can result in dangerous consequences. Remember to give the coals at least a minute or two to subside and absorb the fluid.
Ignite From a Safe Distance
Also remember to ignite the coals from a safe distance using a newspaper cone and lighting up one end of it while holding the other.
Don’t Flip Prematurely
Don’t get hasty with the flipping; let one side of the food be fully exposed to the heat before turning it over. Too much flipping can result in poke marks by the skewers which project a badly cooked finished product.
No Over-marinating
No need to get crazy with the marinating, as this can result in excessive charring. Keep the marinating to an acceptable level and drain it if it gets runny.
It’s all about Hygiene
Sure you are cooking in the outdoors, but that doesn’t mean you eat like an animal. Remember to use fresh marinade for cooked meat instead of used marinade.
